I am searching like a crazy person for a job. While I have become a pseudo professional intern gaining a ton of experience, I still have no job. I recently found out about the MTV TJ competition and would love an opportunity to compete. Even though I only recently applied, and therefore may not make it high enough on the list to be considered, I still applied with hope. They will announce the top 20 competitors on Monday at www.zync.mtv.com!

“New” Twitter Abbreviated Speech

My generation (Gen Y/Millenials) have been using shorthand text for many years. “Phrases” like LOL, ROTFL, BRB and Gr8 have been a part of my internet vocabulary since instant messaging (IM) became popular. Many from older generations had no knowledge or understanding of our computer speak. But thanks to Twitter and other social media sites, such language has become more acceptable. In fact, as I learned today from @KeepAustinWierd (via @adamsconsulting), these terms are now a part of a “Twitter Dictionary.”

Thanks to the lovely people at 101X in Austin, I am heading to Bonnaroo this weekend. I accidentally put my name in their drawing for an all expense paid trip to this music festival in Tenessee and won! (I thought I was entering for free tickets to a Guster concert in Austin – oops!) The trip is for me and a friend, so my friend Randi and I will be camping on site and listening to people like Bruce Springsteen, Beastie Boys, Elvis Costello, Snoop Dogg, Girl Talk, MGMT and so many more. I will be tweeting about the music, sites, people and general experience as long as I my phone’s battery holds out. Please feel free to follow my tweets during the festival! I will not post again until after the festival. Thanks! D
